It’s Friday! Exhale.

How was your week? Mine was a blur – and I mean that in a good way.

I pulled out my beading loom this week. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve done any loom work and I almost forgot how soothing and relaxing it is for me. It’s a great way to keep my hands busy and get my thoughts in order. Several nights this week I ended my work day by listening to Solange’s new album, drinking tea and weaving on my loom.

I finally got tired of looking all the Post-It notes (with ideas for 2017) that were scattered around my work space so I bought a new planner and started organizing things sequentially. It feels good to see the way things are falling into place for 2017. I still have a lot more ideas I want to flesh out and get on paper before the new year begins, but what I accomplished this week is definitely a solid start.

Beyonce is still serving Lemonade. Did you see the way she popped up and stole the scene at the Country Music Awards? A lot of folks weren’t too happy about it. I think good art, in principle, defies labels and genres. Hopefully, her ground breaking project will cause industry puppeteers to pause and take note.

Another artist who made a bold expression this week is Mariella Angela. She’s a self taught painter know for her unique oil portraits of some of the World’s biggest hip-hop legends. In a courageous interview she exposed the ugly truth behind creating beautiful art. She literally, pulled her wig off and kept it really real. Respect. You can find the interview here.

I have a full weekend planned, but I am definitely going to squeeze in some time to read one of my favorite books. My parents gave me a copy of Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston when I was in high school and I’ve read it at least once a year since then. Each time I read Their Eyes Were Watching God I discover something new and connect with the story on a deeper level. Speaking of books, I am excited about attending Andrea Pippins book signing this weekend!

Those are a few quick highlights from my week! What’s good with you?
