It’s Friday…and what a week it’s been!

I’m brewing my afternoon cup of tea and mapping out a strategy for learning as much as I can about leather before next Thursday. One of the things I love best about my job is that I am continuously learning about diverse and interesting things. Whenever I take on a new project I immerse myself in that industry (or demographic) so that I can design from the most authentic perspective as possible.

Currently, I’m immersing myself in leather – and while doing so I’m listening to Look Good in Leather by Cody Chesnutt. I tend to do corny things like that.

Tomorrow I am going to a fun event that was created as a space for Black female creative entrepreneurs to build stronger networks by engaging with existing Black female business owners. There will be workshops, panel discussions, food & drink and even a live DJ for the “party” at the end of the day. It should be a good time and a great networking opportunity – I’ve got my business cards on deck.

I picked up these Aesop samples a few weeks ago because I loved the type and the simplicity of the packaging. Aesop is a luxury skincare line that touts the fact that they “believe unequivocally that well-considered design improves our lives.” And it shows. Their packaging is a strong case study in how to maximize minimalism. I am looking forward to finally putting these samples to use this weekend.
