I am also excited to finally blog about some of my summer highlights during the next few weeks. Here’s a peek of what’s on deck:
SPORTS
Between the Olympics and the COPA America Centenario, 2016 was a pretty major summer for sports. I enjoyed cheering for the USA swim and gymnastic teams, but my loyalties were divided when it came to track and field. Usain Bolt and the other members of the Jamaican track and field team did me proud as did the other amazing athletes from the Caribbean. I also went to a COPA America match and cheered my heart out for the Reggae Boyz. Good times!
TRAVEL
Traveling was definitely a key part of Summer 2016!
Seeing the Kerry James Marshall Exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art was one of the highlights of my trip to Chicago. The exhibit deserves a post of its own, Kerry James Marshall is an amazing artist who masterfully conveys the intricacies of the African-American experience in his work.
Napa Valley was the backdrop of another fun summer trip. One of my best friends and I drove up for a long weekend and had a ton of fun. We had gorgeous weather and toured several wineries and ate some of the best garlic truffle fries.
SOUVENIRS
My friends bought me some sweet souvenirs from their travels, some of which were almost too pretty to eat.
LEARNING
I attended the NNG Conference in San Francisco and learned a ton about UX, digital design trends and research methods. Understanding the science behind the design is an important component of me building great websites for my clients.
SCOTCHBONNET!
Scotchbonnet! my line of handmade accessories – it’s nice to step away from my digital tools and create tangible art every now and then. I had a lot of fun freshening up the logo and branding and I’m really happy with the results. I’ll post more about this soon, but you can check out the website here.
How was your summer?
